Weighty Issues by FischHead Weighty Issues by FischHead
I've been playing DKC3 again and just realized there's some sort of gravitational
disturbance surrounding my two favorite Kongs.

Using only her hair, Dixie can both lift and hurl a barrel with Kiddy inside, no problem.
However, when using the team throw, she staggers under the titanic toddler's weight,
like a European Swallow trying to carry a coconut.

Is Dixie's hair a muscle? Why doesn't she pick up Kiddy with that prodigious ponytail rather
than hoist him up on her nearly nonexistent shoulders?

I realize it's a matter of animation and not weight ratios, but come on, Rare. Come on.

I like to think the barrels have some sort of a space/time distorting properties. (Let us not forget DK AND Diddy could fit comfortably into the same barrel.)

Also, how do you know it's not a migratory African swallow that carried the coconut? Hmm? Hmmmmmmmmmm? =P

That's an interesting hypothesis. :hmm:
Could it tie into the way your secondary character floats/ teleports
to your location when you get hit or when Dixie uses the helicopter
spin? We'll need both Bill Nye AND Beakman to explain this one.

Oh, and African Swallows are non-migratory. However, if two of them
carried the coconut on a line held under the dorsal guiding feathers,
then maybe you've got something.

I believe we need to consult the Doctor, since we're dealing with bigger-on-the-inside tech. (And possibly, time travel, if save points are part of the in-game continuity.)

Going by averages, an unladen African Swallow weighs around 21 grams, and should be able to lift around half it's own body weight, or 10.5 grams. An average unladen coconut weighs around 8000 grams. So at 10.5 grams of lift per swallow, you're looking at a minimum of 762 swallows to lift that coconut.

Or perhaps the coconut migrated on it's own.

OH, and to the subject of your art piece:

I'm amused by how they handled the weight thing. =p If I were to explain it, then yeah, I'm forced to say that her hair is a muscle of sorts. But a very powerful, untamed one which she might not have precise control over. And that she's afraid she might injure the big little guy if she tries to lift him without the protection of being in the barrel.

Oh gosh, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO -- have all us DK fan die from an overdose of cuteness and amazement? :lmao:

Your artwork is amazing. The colors are breathtaking and your style makes it all so fun to look at - I must've stared at this for two minutes anyway, just admiring how you composed everything. AND ON TOP OF EVERYTHING, you make them just as cute as a button! =p It just all makes me giddy!

Thank you, THANK YOU, for lending your talent to us, and especially to a great (and personally, my favorite) video game franchise. ;)
